Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 350
- In the bowl of a stand mixer with paddle attachment, cream shortening and sugar.
- Scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl, then add eggs, vanilla, and milk and mix.
- Add in the dry ingredients on low speed mixing until dough forms, scraping down the sides of the bowl and making sure everything is incorporated.
- For Drop Sugar Cookies: use a cookie scoop or metal spoon to drop dough balls onto the cookie sheet. Bake for approximately 10-12 minutes.
- For Cut-Out Cookies: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface or lightly floured silicone mat. Using cookie cutters, cut out dough, then place them on the cookie tray.
- Bake cookies for 9-12 minutes or until done. Check at 9 minutes. Add time if needed.
- Place baked cookies on a wire cooling rack when done.
- Allow to cool completely before frosting them.

Notes
Each oven is different. I recommend checking the cookies at 9 minutes. If they need more time go the full 12 minutes.
Make sure they are done enough to take off the cookie sheet with a spatula without falling apart. But you do not want your cookies to be golden brown or they will be hard.
