This year, why not try crafting an adorable yet functional wristlet as a gift? They are inexpensive yet super cute, trendy, and fun. These silicon-beaded keychain wristlets also make for a personal and heartfelt gift that teachers or friends will cherish.
Whether you’re shopping for a sports fan who wants their team’s colors for game day or someone who loves trendy, feminine hues, you’ll find everything you need on Amazon. Let me show you how to create a cute silicone beaded keychain wristlet that makes the perfect gift!
Materials Needed
- 15 soft silicone beads
- 1.5 stretch elastic cord
- metal clip and keyring
- scissors
- lighter
- tassel
- wooden accent beads if preferred
- bowl for holding the beads
Step By Step How To
Step 1: Prepare your materials.
Get a clean workspace prepared with all your materials at hand. Then, choose your color scheme and lay it out in the bowl. Don’t forget as you are designing your pattern, you have 15 beads to work with. Put the soft silicone beads of your choice into your bowl.
Step 2: Seer the end of the cord
With your lighter, barely melt the end of the cord to allow the beads to slide through easily. I prefer to keep my cord attached to the roll to minimize waste, but if you would like to work with a cut piece, aim for about 12 inches of cord to work with. Tape the other end to the table so the beads do not fall off.
Step 3: Thread your beads
Start threading your beads onto the cord in the pattern you prefer. When you’re finished add the keychain before tying, unless are doing just a tassel.
Step 4: Tie your ends
Tie your ends together pretty tight and then double knot it.
TIP: Do NOT tie it as tight as you can or it will break. When I first started making these cute wristlets I would tie them as tight as I possibly could and they broke over and over. Beads would fly everywhere. I guess it just depends on your strength. You want the knot tied as tightly as it can without breaking.
Step 5: Cut the ends of the cord and melt the ends to fuse them……All done!
Cut the ends of your cord off and gently melt the ends with your lighter, being attentive to not catch them on fire.
Take the fire over the knot as well, which will fuse the cords. Then pull the knot and cut ends under one of the soft silicone beads. Add your tassel and you have a finished product.
NOTE: If you want a plastic pouch to give it more of a professional look, you can order those here on Amazon as well. Also, some people use a crafting needle and you may try it if you want but this tutorial is based on simple and it’s easy to make with just your hands.
These hands-free silicone beaded wristlets are perfect for busy moms, teachers, and any friend. You can add flavor to them however you like by using colorful silicone beads, letter beads, glitter beads, wooden accent beads, a small metal charm, or many other options. They look super cute attached to a diaper bag, cross-body purse, 40 oz tumbler sling bag, or on your wrist. This adorable wristlet is super easy and quick to make.
