As the crisp autumn air settles in and leaves begin to paint the world with vibrant shades of orange, red, and gold, do you need some fun ideas for fall family activities? Fall offers such a wonderful setting to have the best time with your family in the outdoors.

Autumn is our families favorite time of year. We have so much fun together. It is the perfect time of year to make lasting outdoor memories.

Whether you’re looking to explore nature or enjoy the traditional autumn fun, here is a list of fall activities for the whole family to enjoy.

1. Visit Pumpkin Patch

The pumpkin patch is a great place to go with the whole family. Riding a wagon out to the pumpkin patch, getting pictures, and picking just the right pumpkin is so much fun. Many pumpkin patches offer hayrides, corn mazes, petting zoos, slides, and other activities that make a full day of family fun. This is truly one of our favorite fall activities.

2. Ride Bikes

Autumn is the perfect time to take the whole family on a bike ride. It creates the best setting, with the perfect temperatures to have a great time. Riding through the beautiful fall scenery makes it such a refreshing and peaceful way to get out and have some fun and exercise. We ride on our local trails, but you could always ride in your neighborhood and still enjoy the beauty that fall brings.

3. Rake Up A Pile Of Leaves And Jump In

Relive those childhood memories by raking up a huge pile of leaves and jumping in with your kids! However, if you feel like you’re too old for that, just rake them for your kids and let them jump in. And you can also use this opportunity to snag some cute fall photos. Heres a side note: pull out any sticks that may get raked up first, so no one gets hurt. Raking leaves together is a fun way to bond and also gets the whole family active.

4. Go To Harvest Festivals Near You

Harvest festivals are such a wonderful way to enjoy the fall season. Sometimes, they will have live music, truck/tractor pulls, fun vendor booths to look through, delicious fall foods, and fun activities for the whole family. Certainly, these festivals can become such a fun fall family tradition. Harvest festivals certainly highlight the best of fall.

5. Go Driving Through A Forestry To See All The Beautiful Colors

Take a scenic drive with the family to a nearby forest or country side to see all the beauty autumn has to offer. As long as it’s not too cold, roll the windows down and enjoy the crisp autumn air along with the stunning views. If there are stops in the forest, you could always bring along a picnic so that you could enjoy the view along with lunch.

6. Go On A Hike/Or Watch Farmers Harvesting

Whether it be in your own backyard woods or a local hiking trail, take your family on a hike to enjoy the stunning views of autumn. Don’t forget your camera!! This setting will certainly make for great pictures of the whole family and capture beautiful memories. You could also bring along a picnic to make your activity longer and make even more memories.

You could also go somewhere to watch farmers harvesting their crops. Luckily, we have neighbors that farm. We take a walk down the road in the fall and the kids have a great time watching them harvest.

7. Visit Corn Mazes

Corn mazes can be a fun way for the family to experience fall. They can for sure be a challenge, which can be exciting, but it also helps team building which creates family bonding. They also help get everyone active and moving. If you have littles, make sure they stay close so they don’t get lost.

8. Visit Farmers Markets

Farmers markets can be full of great seasonal produce, pumpkins, apple cider, and mums. It’s a great way to get out of the house and take a little fall adventure. Picking out mums or pumpkins for your porch can be fun for the kids. And don’t forget to grab some apple cider to add to the fall fun.

9. Have A Hay Ride

Hayrides are a great way to make memories with the kids. If you can’t have them yourself, many farms and pumpkin patches offer them. Hayrides can be relaxing and yet so fun. Cozy up under a blanket and set back and enjoy the beautiful scenic ride with your family.

10. Go Camping/Have A Bonfire

Camping is such a great fall family activity. The cool crips temperatures and the beautiful scenery makes it the perfect experience. Whether you are in a tent or an RV, the temperatures make it comfortable for sleeping and bonfires.

If you don’t want to go camping, you could always have a bonfire in your back yard, or even in a fire pit on your porch. Then you could roast hotdogs or make s’mores and tell stories. It’s the perfect time to bond and make warm, cozy, fall memories with your family.
